Component Flat Washers are named for their original popularity as a component of a jig or fixture, where a thicker washer was needed for the extra strength and load distribution properties that accompany the extra thickness. Our Component Washers are available from #4 screw size all the way thru 1-1/2" Bolt sizes. All Component Washers are thicker than any standard washer in general use. We provide two lines from stock - Thick and Extra Thick. Smaller diameters have a 5/64" thickness, going all the way up to 3/8" thickness, with the 1/8" thick line being the most popular. Parts are then case hardened, which hardens only the top layer of steel, leaving the center soft - this imparts strength on the bearing surface, but allows the part itself to flex, and avoid cracking from being too brittle. A Black Oxide plating is then applied, for appearance and a corrosion inhibitor. Made in the USA.

Parts are then case hardened, which hardens only the top layer of steel, leaving the center soft - this imparts strength on the bearing surface, but allows the part itself to flex, and avoid cracking from being too brittle. A Black Oxide plating is then applied, for appearance and a corrosion inhibitor. Made in the USA.
